About Research & Technology Division

PETRONAS Research & Technology Division was set up to manage and drive the research and technology activities of PETRONAS. The division is entrusted to promote the strategic development and application of technology in order to increase the competitiveness of PETRONAS.

The Research & Technology Division seeks to create value through a targeted approach in research and technological innovation by taking leadership in selective strategic areas and key focus areas. Support for operations and maintenance of superior performing assets for the Group are also managed by the division through the development of technological solutions. This strong emphasis on the role of technology is promoted Group wide through the cultivation of a learning culture and providing opportunities for staff to develop and enhance key competencies.

Career opportunities in R&T:

Group Technology and R&D Management (GTRM) is the technology management strategist and technology excellence driver. Its portfolio covers oil and gas industry value chain.

Group Technology Commercialisation Management (GTComM) manages ideas, inventions and innovations. It also spearheads technology commercialisation activities and manages business and technology relationship with alliance partners.

Business, HR Planning & Performance Management (BPPM) plays a primary role in developing, integrating and tracking implementation of the R&T Division’s business plans and formulates and facilitates the implementation of people strategy, developments plans for the Division.

Group Technical Capability Management (GTCM) role is to establish Group Technical Capability policies, strategies, guidelines, systems and processes including evaluating, recommending and establishing technical manpower requirements to meet business needs.

PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. (PRSB) is set to be a centre of excellence for research, technology innovation and incubation by focusing on selective key, pacing and emerging R&D activities that are aligned with current and future business needs.

Group Technology Solutions (GTS) provides value-adding technology solutions towards attaining superior performing assets in PETRONAS.
